Tom Weathers

Tom Weathers, born on November 22, 1939, embarked on an illustrious career before being inducted into the TSSAA Hall of Fame in 2019 as a coach. His journey in football coaching saw him serving as an assistant at five different schools, laying the groundwork for his remarkable tenure at Red Bank High School in Chattanooga, TN, beginning in 1973. Over 29 years, Weathers transformed the Red Bank football program into a powerhouse, securing 222 wins against 85 losses.

The pinnacle of his career came in the year 2000 when he led the Red Bank team to a TSSAA State Championship in Class 5A, boasting an impeccable 15-0 record for the season. This triumph was a testament to Weathers' dedication and skill as a coach, further highlighted by his 1978 team finishing as TSSAA State Runner-up. His leadership not only brought glory to Red Bank but also deeply influenced the lives of countless student-athletes.

After leaving Red Bank in 2002, Weathers spent two years coaching in Georgia before returning to Tennessee to coach at Soddy Daisy High School from 2004 until his retirement in 2007. His legacy is celebrated through various honors, including being named to the Greater Chattanooga Sports Hall of Fame, the Chattanooga Old Timers Hall of Fame, UT Chattanooga Athletics Hall of Fame, and the Tennessee Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame. Additionally, the field at Red Bank High School bears his name, a fitting tribute to a coach whose impact went far beyond winning games, deeply engraining him into the fabric of Tennessee high school sports. His enduring contribution to high school athletics, particularly through his service to TSSAA, ensured his deserved recognition in the Hall of Fame.
