Born on March 4, 1947, McCadams embarked on a coaching journey that spanned over 40 remarkable years, shaping the lives of countless young athletes and fostering a culture of excellence and sportsmanship.

His career began in West Tennessee, where he took the helm at Milan and Peabody high schools. However, it was his remarkable 31-year tenure at Lipscomb Academy (formerly Lipscomb High School), starting in 1982, that truly defined his illustrious career. Under his leadership, the football program flourished, compiling an impressive overall record of 319 wins against 112 losses. His strategic insights and motivational leadership propelled Lipscomb Academy's teams to TSSAA State Championships in 1994, 2002, and 2007, while also achieving the status of State Runners-up four times. McCadams' tenure was highlighted by consistent success, with his teams advancing to the postseason in 27 of his 31 years at Lipscomb.

Beyond his coaching accomplishments, McCadams demonstrated a profound commitment to the betterment of high school sports in Tennessee. He served on the Board of Directors for TACA and took on the role of Vice-President of the Football Coaches Association.
