In 1976, Colquette’s journey led him to Cleveland, TN, where he took on the role of Offensive Coordinator, beginning his influential tenure in Tennessee high school football. However, it was in 1980 when Colquette’s legacy truly began to take shape. He started coaching at Marion County High School and over the next seventeen years as its head coach, he forged a highly successful program. His leadership and strategic acumen brought the school four TSSAA State Championships and secured runner-up positions twice, marking an era of dominance and setting high standards for success.

In 2001, Colquette returned to his roots at Grundy Co. High School, his alma mater, where he serendipitously served in dual capacities as Principal and Athletic Director for eight years, alongside being the football coach for four years. This dual role highlighted his multi-faceted contribution to high school athletics, demonstrating his commitment not just to coaching but also to the broader educational and administrative aspects of school athletics.

Though he retired from full-time education in 2008, Colquette’s passion for football coaching never wavered. He returned to the field as the head football coach at Sequatchie County High School, where he continued to impart his knowledge and passion for the game to younger generations.
