Jerry Pearson's illustrious career, culminating in his 2012 induction into the TSSAA Hall of Fame, reflects his significant contributions to high school sports in Tennessee. Born on January 31, 1940, Pearson embarked on a football coaching journey that spanned more than 45 years across Robertson and Dickson counties. His coaching career took off at East Robertson High School, followed by stints at Dickson County, Greenbrier, and Springfield high schools, demonstrating his dedication to nurturing young talents across the state.

From 1995 to 1998, Pearson further enriched his coaching portfolio by serving as an assistant coach at Montgomery Bell Academy in Nashville. Throughout his career, Pearson celebrated over 200 career victories, a testament to his strategic expertise and leadership on and off the field. One of the crowning achievements of his career came in 1988 when his Dickson County squad clinched the TSSAA Football State Championship in Class AAA, underlining his ability to motivate and lead his team to the pinnacle of high school football in Tennessee.

Pearson's teams made an indelible mark in TSSAA history with nine bowl appearances and eleven state playoff qualifications, showcasing the consistent excellence and competitive spirit he instilled in his players. In recognition of his contributions to football and the development of sportsmanship in young athletes, Pearson was honored with the Roy Kramer Contributions to Football Award in 2007.

Before embarking on his coaching odyssey, Pearson played football and baseball at Middle Tennessee State and was a student-athlete at Springfield High School under fellow TSSAA Hall of Famer Boyce Smith.
