Robert High's illustrious career as a teacher, coach, and athletic director spans over three decades, leading to his well-deserved induction into the TSSAA Hall of Fame in the year 2000. Born on June 24, 1943, High embarked on his educational and coaching journey in 1971, dedicating his life to fostering talent and discipline in young athletes at Brainerd High School.

Over the years, High's commitment to excellence became evident through his remarkable achievements, particularly as the head basketball coach from 1976. Under his guidance, the basketball team amassed an impressive record of 731 wins against 213 losses. His tenure saw Brainerd High securing 17 district championships and 12 regional championships, a testament to his strategic prowess and leadership. High's teams were twice named TSSAA State Runners-Up in 1995 and 1997, and he led them to grand victories with three TSSAA State Championships in 1984, 1988, and 1992, marking significant milestones in his career.

In addition to basketball, Robert High turned his attention to cross country, where he led Brainerd High to a TSSAA State Championship in 1999. His dual role as an athletic director from 1989 further illustrated his versatile contribution to sports education and administration.

High's personal accolades include recognition by Brainerd High School and the community for accumulating over 500 wins, being named Coach of the Year 22 times, and election into the Brainerd High School Basketball Hall of Fame and the Chattanooga Old Timers Hall of Fame. His reputation for dedication and success earned him the prestigious Scrappy Moore Award in both 1984 and 1992.
