David Meske's remarkable career as a coach, which spanned nearly four decades, culminated in his well-deserved induction into the TSSAA Hall of Fame in 2023. Born on June 13, 1959, Meske dedicated his life to shaping young athletes and fostering a culture of excellence in high school sports. His journey at the Webb School of Knoxville stands as a testament to his enduring commitment and exceptional skill, where he served as the head football coach for an impressive tenure.

Meske's coaching prowess was undeniable, amassing a career record of 291-146. Under his leadership, the Webb School's football team clinched seven TSSAA State Football Championships in the years 1996, 2006, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2013, and 2014, showcasing his ability to drive his teams to perform at their peak. Additionally, his teams were state runners-up three times in 1997, 2005, and 2015, further evidencing his consistent success.

Beyond the football field, Meske contributed significantly to the Webb School's athletic department, serving as the Athletic Director for 28 years. His multifaceted role also included a 7-year tenure as Dean of Students, showcasing his versatility and commitment to student well-being.

Meske's dedication to TSSAA extended beyond coaching, as he was an active member of the TSSAA Board of Control since 2015. This role allowed him to influence high school athletics positively across Tennessee, underscoring his commitment to sportsmanship and development.

His contributions have been widely recognized, leading to his induction into both the Greater Knoxville Sports Hall of Fame and the Tennessee Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame. The Webb School honored him by naming their football stadium "Dave Meske Stadium" in 2015, a lasting tribute to his legacy.

Meske, who also served in the military for 20 years, announced his retirement at the conclusion of the 2022-23 school year, bringing an end to a distinguished career. His induction into the TSSAA Hall of Fame in 2023 serves as a fitting culmination of his service to TSSAA and high school athletics in Tennessee.
