Clint Satterfield

Inducted 2016

Clint Satterfield, whose lifelong devotion to sports and education carved a path of exceptional service within the Trousdale County School System, was rightly honored with his induction into the TSSAA Hall of Fame in 2016. Born on November 6, 1960, Satterfield began his coaching career in 1983, serving initially as an assistant football coach at Trousdale Co. High School. By 1984, he advanced to the role of head coach, marking the start of a distinguished 24-year tenure.

Throughout his career, Satterfield not only followed but also built upon the legacy of his father, Jim Satterfield, a fellow TSSAA Hall of Fame inductee and respected football coach at Trousdale Co. Under Clint Satterfield's guidance, his teams amassed an impressive record of 239 wins against just 61 losses, a testament to his skill, strategy, and leadership.

His dedication to athletics and his teams yielded five TSSAA State Championships, won in 1990, 1993, 1997, 1998, and 2005, setting a high standard for future generations. Satterfield's influence extended beyond the high school level as he spent 17 years as a football coach at Satterfield Middle School, named in honor of his father, showcasing the deep family ties to the sport and the community.

In addition to his coaching responsibilities, Satterfield also contributed significantly as an athletic director at Trousdale Co. for seven years and as the head baseball coach from 1988 to 1991. His numerous State Coach of the Year honors and the prestigious A. F. Bridges Award in 2000 further underline his remarkable achievements and dedication to excellence and sportsmanship.

Satterfield retired from coaching in 2007, closing a distinguished chapter in his career but not stepping away from public service. He transitioned to an educational leadership role, becoming the Director of Schools in Trousdale County, where he continued to positively impact the community he served for so many years. His induction into the TSSAA Hall of Fame in 2016 is a fitting tribute to his contributions to TSSAA and high school sports in Tennessee, celebrating a legacy that encompasses both winning records and the shaping of character in young athletes.
