Dwight Clark, born on March 16, 1949, embarked on a remarkable career in education and sports, culminating in a legacy that led to his posthumous induction into the TSSAA Hall of Fame in 1994. Dwight commenced his journey as a teacher and coach in 1973, dedicating himself to the development and mentorship of young athletes for two decades until his untimely death on May 2, 1993.

His coaching career began at Campbellsville High School, where he served from 1973 until 1978. Subsequently, Dwight moved to Richland High School, where he continued to build his legacy from 1978 through to 1993. During these years, Dwight's dedication to coaching basketball was not just a profession but a passion that significantly impacted the lives of numerous students and the broader school communities.

Dwight’s extraordinary coaching record stands testament to his skill, discipline, and leadership. Accumulating an impressive 867 wins against 335 losses, he showcased his exceptional ability to lead and inspire his teams. His commendable dedication led his teams to an awe-inspiring 13 TSSAA State Tournament appearances - an extraordinary feat highlighting 10 appearances by girls' teams and 3 by boys' teams. At the time of his death, Dwight was celebrated as one of Tennessee's most accomplished coaches, ranking tenth statewide based on his win-loss record.
