Campbell Brandon, born on January 20, 1936, embarked on a distinguished career spanning over four decades, leaving an indelible mark on girls' basketball in Tennessee. His coaching journey began in 1960 at Lascassas High School, where he led the girls' basketball team to a record of 69 wins and 31 losses until 1964. Brandon's coaching prowess was further solidified during his tenure at Lebanon High School from 1964 to 1992, where he achieved an impressive varsity record of 679 wins and 194 losses, along with a freshman team record of 121 wins and 65 losses. Under his guidance, Lebanon made nine TSSAA State Tournament appearances, secured the Class L Championship in 1971, and were state runners-up in 1975, 1978, and 1982.

Brandon's commitment to the sport continued at Watertown High School from 1993 to 1998, amassing a record of 75 wins and 49 losses. Later, at Wilson Central from 2001 onwards, he contributed as an assistant for the girls' basketball team.

Through his career, Brandon achieved a combined record of 944 wins and 339 losses across varsity and freshman teams, marking him as one of the nation's most successful coaches in girls' basketball. He was recognized in Tennessee among the top ten coaches for his number of wins. Notably, in 1979, his six-player Lebanon team reached the TSSAA Class AAA State Tournament in the final year of six-player play, transitioning seamlessly into the five-player format the following year.

Brandon's excellence in coaching earned him the title of The Tennessean Midstate Coach of the Year five times. Among his admirers was legendary women's basketball coach Pat Summitt, who revered him for his contributions to the sport. In 1994, his outstanding service was rightfully acknowledged with an induction into the TSSAA Hall of Fame, celebrating a career that significantly impacted girls' basketball in Tennessee.
