Founded in 1898 on South Jackson Street in Tullahoma as the Tullahoma Negro School, it was renamed Davidson Academy in 1927. The school became part of Tullahoma City Schools in 1936 and closed as a high school in 1964 as a result of desegregation. The building later became the Southside Community Center, and later the C.D. Stamps Community Center, before being demolished in 1998, except for one wall preserved within the new Parks and Recreation facility.
