Marty Clements, born on April 24, 1953, embarked on a distinguished career as a sports official, starting in 1972 with the Reelfoot Association. Over nearly five decades, Clements dedicated his life to officiating sports, marking a significant impact on the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA). His journey in sports officiating is highlighted by numerous milestones and contributions, leading to his deserved induction into the TSSAA Hall of Fame in 2023.

Throughout his career, Clements officiated over 2,000 TSSAA contests, a testament to his dedication and love for high school sports. His expertise extended across multiple sports, reflecting his versatility and commitment to fair play. In football, Clements enjoyed a prolific 50-year officiating career, which included working at the state football championships in 2002 and 2021. His passion for the game was unmistakable, as he also played a vital role in developing officiating talent by serving as a football supervisor.

Clements’ contributions were not limited to football. He also made significant marks in volleyball, officiating the TSSAA Volleyball State Championship in 1981, and softball, where he worked nearly 400 basketball games over nine years and officiated at the TSSAA Softball State Championships in 1980. Beyond his work on the field, Clements demonstrated leadership by serving as the first president of the Southwest Officials Association and undertaking roles as a supervisor and assigning officer for softball and volleyball.

Recognition for his service included being named the Southwest Football Officials Association Official of the Year in 2011 and receiving a TSSAA A.F. Bridges Award in 2017. These accolades underscore Clements' extensive contributions to TSSAA and high school athletics in Tennessee. His legacy is not just in the games he officiated but also in the standards of excellence and integrity he set for future generations of officials.
