Bryan Kennedy, born on March 13, 1938, had a distinguished career in sports officiating that culminated in his 2009 induction into the TSSAA Hall of Fame. His journey into the world of sports began at a young age when he officiated his first grade school basketball game at just 14 years old. Kennedy's passion and commitment to basketball officiating were unwavering, as evidenced by his decision to register with the TSSAA at 21, marking the beginning of an incredible 50-year span as a TSSAA official starting from 1959.

Beyond his on-court roles, Kennedy also made notable contributions off the court. For a year between 1984 and 1985, he served as a TSSAA Supervisor and Assigning Officer, roles in which he oversaw the recruitment and assignment of officials for basketball games. This position underscored his commitment to ensuring the high quality and integrity of officiating in school sports.

Kennedy's career was not limited to officiating. Before dedicating himself full-time to teaching and arbitration, he spent six years teaching and coaching basketball, baseball, and softball. His contributions to sports extended into academia and labor arbitration, where he has been a licensed labor arbitrator across the United States since 1992. Furthermore, Kennedy has been a prolific writer and served on the advisory board for Houghton Mifflin Publishing Co.'s business management group.

Since 1990, Kennedy has enriched the minds of students as a full-time professor at Athens State University in Athens, Alabama. His multifaceted career highlights his dedication not only to sports officiating but also to education and mediation, making his induction into the TSSAA Hall of Fame a testament to his significant contributions to athletics and beyond.
