During this period as a football coach, McClure led his teams to notable successes. While at McMinnville Central High School from 1947 to 1950, his football team clinched three Central Tennessee Football Championships. His tenure at Tullahoma High School from 1951 to 1956 was marked by winning two additional Central Tennessee Football Championships, with the 1955 squad finishing an impressive season undefeated.

McClure's influence extended beyond coaching as he took on administrative roles, serving as principal for 22 years from 1956 to 1978 at West Junior High School and Tullahoma High School. However, his service to TSSAA is particularly noteworthy. McClure spent 19 years on the TSSAA Board of Control from 1959 to 1978, showcasing his leadership and dedication to high school sports. His commitment was further recognized during his tenure as TSSAA President from 1973 to 1978, guiding the organization through significant developments.

His contributions to education and athletics in Tennessee also earned him spots in the Tennessee Technological University Hall of Fame and the Warren County Hall of Fame, attesting to his widespread impact. Creed McClure’s legacy is a testament to his profound impact on high school sports across Tennessee, celebrated by his 1985 induction into the TSSAA Hall of Fame.
