Santo Cicirello, born on August 25, 1939, embarked on a distinguished career dedicated to sports and education that eventually led to his induction into the TSSAA Hall of Fame in 2005, a testament to his substantial contributions and achievements. Cicirello's journey began in 1963 at Washington College Academy, serving until 1971, where he held the role of Athletic Director, aside from coaching basketball, baseball, track, cross-country, and golf. His leadership and coaching prowess were evident with the cross-country team winning four conference championships during his tenure.

Transitioning to David Crockett High School in 1971, Cicirello continued molding young athletes through 2001, undertaking roles as the coach for freshman boys basketball, girls and boys track, and girls and boys cross-country. His tenure at David Crockett High School was marked by winning conference championships and a regional championship in girls cross-country, demonstrating his ability to inspire and lead teams to success across different sports disciplines.

Simultaneously, Cicirello embarked on a parallel avenue of his career as a TSSAA official, with a remarkable commitment spanning decades. For 40 years, he was part of the Region I Football Officials Association in Johnson City, officiating countless TSSAA playoff games, including the notable Class A State Championship in 1987. In track, he dedicated 29 years, officiating at the TSSAA State Track Meet for 25 years while serving as Field Judge Referee for 20 years, among various other officiating roles. His expertise and dedication also extended to off-field contributions like inspecting pole vault landing pads for TSSAA in 2003.

Cicirello's exemplary service was recognized with multiple awards, including the TSSAA Distinguished Service Recognition Honoree for an official in 1998 and the A. F. Bridges Award as the Official of the Year in both football and track for the 1998-99 seasons. Further underlining his extraordinary commitment to high school sports, Cicirello received the Tennessee High School Athletic Administration Association Distinguished Service Award in 2000.

Santo Cicirello's legacy is not only evident in his TSSAA Hall of Fame induction but also in his profound impact on student-athletes, fellow coaches, and the greater athletic community across Tennessee.
