  • Successful boys’ and girls’ basketball coach from West Tennessee

  • Began coaching in 1959 at Morris Chapel High School and then coached at Ramer, McNairy Central, and Bolivar Central high schools

  • Served as Assistant Principal and Athletic Director at both Ramer and McNairy

  • His teams made four trips to the TSSAA Girls’ State tournament and one trip to the Boy’s State tournament

  • Won two TSSAA State championships with the Bolivar Central girls’ teams in 1977 and 1978

  • Nominated for National Coach of the Year after the 1978 season

  • Coached on the collegiate level at both Jackson State Community College and Austin Peay State University

  • Member of several halls of fame including Freed-Hardeman University, Bethel University, and Bolivar Central High School
