  • Taught and coached for nearly 40 years

  • Spent first five years in Kentucky as a football coach

  • Coached football and basketball at Nashville’s Pearl High School for ten years

  • Assistant Basketball coach on Pearl’s 1966 undefeated State Championship squad

  • Assistant Principal at Bass Middle and East High School, both in Nashville

  • Principal at Highland Heights and Maplewood high schools

  • Served on the TSSAA Board of Control for three years (1993 – 1996)

  • Received a TSSAA Distinguished Service Recognition

  • Taught college courses at Trevecca University and Tennessee State University throughout his career

  • Inducted into the Metro Football Hall of Fame and the Region 6-AAA Metro Basketball Hall of Fame

  • Retired in 1998
