  • Served 49 years in the Carter County School System

  • Spent 41 seasons as the head football coach at Hampton High School

  • Compiled close to 300 career victories

  • Had 25 winning seasons

  • Won 11 conference championships

  • His teams advanced to the state football quarter-finals six times, and the semi-finals three times

  • Athletic Director and Vice-Principal at Hampton for 20 years

  • Received numerous “Coach of the Year” honors

  • The football stadium at Hampton High School is named in his honor

  • Member of the Northeast Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame

  • Retired at the conclusion of the 2008 football season, but remained active working with the freshman squad
