  • Co-director of athletic construction for Sequatchie County schools’ athletic facilities
  • Very involved, although no child of his own has participated in the Sequatchie County sports programs
  • Recipient of Jefferson Award, which is a national community service award initiated by Jacqueline Kennedy to recognize “unsung” heroes who practice unselfish service to others
  • East Tennessee State University Football Hall of Fame Inductee—1988
  • Member of the Lions Club for 57 Years
  • Awarded the “Melvin Jones Fellowship Award” in 1994 Lions International
  • March of Dimes Co-Chairman Award for 25 Years of Service
  • Masonic Lodge 55 years—Lodge 693
  • Order of Eastern Star 54 years—No. 340
