  • Mr. Osteen was a key figure in helping to organize the first TSSAA State Office in Trenton, Tennessee in 1946
  • Mr. Bill began his teaching career while still a college undergraduate
  • He once served as tournament director, official (when only one official was used per game), and coach of a basketball tournament in which his team was participating (Bolton High School)
  • Recipient of Goldstein Medal for Outstanding Athlete at Middle Tennessee State University
  • Received National Federation of State High School Associations Service Recognition
  • Received Distinguished Alumnus Award, Middle Tennessee State University
  • Millington Central High School Gymnasium Complex named “William L. Osteen Gymnasium Complex” in his honor
  • Mr. Bill considered the building, the integration of two associations, and classification as the big accomplishments of his time at TSSAA
