  • June 15, 1979 was “Milton Mayo Appreciation Day” in Milan, TN
  • Presented with Senate Joint Resolution 109 for Service in Education field
  • Beginning in 1980, the Milton Mayo Scholarship is awarded annually to a Milan High School Senior
  • Played college basketball 4 years, football 2 years, and baseball 2 years at WTST (now the University of Memphis) from 1934 – 1937
  • Milan B & PW Boss of the Year in 1969
  • Milan Rotary Member from 1962 – 2000
  • Rotary Paul Harris Fellow—1988
  • Inducted into the Gibson County Hall of Fame in 1994
  • Milan’s Man of the Year in 1995
  • Inducted into the M Club Hall of Fame at the University of Memphis on October 9, 1998
