  • Helped develop the classification system for high school sports in Tennessee
  • Directed the high school football playoffs since its inception
  • Registered lobbyist who served 3 years on the Board of the Tennessee State Lobbyists’ Association
  • Served on the National Federation of State High School Association (NFHS) Volleyball Rules Committee for 5 years
  • Served on the NFHS National Records Committee for 3 years
  • He was awarded the NFHS Citation Award for his many years of service to high school athletics at both the state and national levels
  • Very instrumental in obtaining the funding for the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame, and served as its Executive Director for 8 years
  • Served on the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame Board for 9 years
  • Developed and administered the state volleyball program and initiated the state softball program
  • Developed the TSSAA’s printing and publication program that included tournament programs, awards, certificates, registration cards, etc.
  • Was a founding force in the Tennessee Prep Writers Association and served as secretary of that group
  • Spoken numerous times at NFHS conventions and other national avenues on education and athletics
  • Served as General Manager for the 1974 World Series of Basketball between the United States and Russia
  • TN School Boards Association “Honorary Lifetime Member” awarded in 2007; one of only 3 members in the history of the association
