Marvin Doggett's career as a TSSAA official and supervisor spanned several decades, showcasing his dedication and contribution to high school sports in Tennessee. Born on May 22, 1939, Doggett began his officiating career in 1959 with the Bluff City Officials Association in Memphis. His early work included officiating various District and Invitational tournaments before school integration in 1964. In 1965, Doggett became a registered official with TSSAA, marking the start of a significant phase in his career.

Throughout his tenure as a TSSAA official, Marvin Doggett was known for his work across numerous District, Regional, and Sub-State basketball tournaments. His expertise and fairness on the court led him to officiate the 1973 TSSAA East versus West All-Star basketball game, a prestigious event in Tennessee high school sports. Doggett's skills were further recognized when he officiated in the TSSAA Boys' State Basketball Tournaments in 1974 and 1979, some of the most high-profile assignments for a high school sports official in the state.

In 1980, Marvin Doggett took on a transformative role as a TSSAA Supervisor of Officials, a position highlighting his leadership and depth of knowledge in officiating. This appointment allowed him to impact the game beyond the court by mentoring and supervising other officials. Aside from his impressive career in high school sports, Doggett also had a stellar career as both an official and a supervisor on the college level.

In 2014, Marvin Doggett's lifelong service to TSSAA and his significant contributions to high school sports were honored with his induction into the TSSAA Hall of Fame. This recognition was not only a testament to his dedication as an official and supervisor but also celebrated his role in shaping the integrity and quality of high school sports officiating in Tennessee.
