Bill Pack, born on January 24, 1919, dedicated most of his life to the realm of sports officiating, leaving a lasting legacy that was honored with his induction into the TSSAA Hall of Fame in 1983. Pack's career in sports administration and officiating spanned over five decades, marking him as a prominent figure in Tennessee's athletic history until his death on April 13, 1994.

Starting in 1939, Pack's association with TSSAA began, embarking on a 55-year journey as a TSSAA official. By 1947, he elevated his role, serving both as a commissioner and assigning officer for a remarkable 47 years. His dedication wasn't limited to one sport or capacity; he was intricately involved with the Central Tennessee Football Officials’ Association and the South Central Basketball Officials’ Association. These roles underlined his commitment to ensuring high standards in officiating within Tennessee's secondary school sports.

Beyond his direct service with TSSAA, Pack contributed significantly to sports at a national level. In 1992, he served as the president of the National Federation Interscholastic Officials’ Association, showcasing his influence and expertise on a broader stage. His contributions also extended to being a member of the State Basketball Committee, where his insights undoubtedly helped shape the landscape of high school basketball in Tennessee.

Pack's personal life reflected his professional passions; all five of his sons followed in his footsteps to become football officials. Moreover, his authority and proficiency in sports extended through a 40-year tenure officiating intercollegiate football, including 34 years in the Ohio Valley Conference, demonstrating his versatile and enduring contribution to American sports.
