  • Coached 11 boys’ and girls’ basketball teams to district or East Tennessee Championships while at Morristown High School
  • Morristown two-mile relay team set national High School record in Chicago in 1928
  • Developed community activities for youth and high school intramural programs to get students involved in athletics in some form
  • Morristown High School gymnasium was named after him in 1954
  • Morristown High School Football field was named after him in 1998
  • 1998—Petie Siler Park in Morristown (where the Peneto Pool was and ALPS Building is)
  • East Tennessee Chapter of National Football Foundation Hall of Fame 1966
  • Northeast Tennessee Hall of Fame 1993
  • In 1951, with General Robert Neyland in attendance, the citizens of Morristown bestowed upon Siler a new 1951 Mercury automobile on “Petie Siler Night” for his length of service
  • In 1966, Siler was honored again by the citizens of Morristown proclaiming November 4 as “Petie Siler Day”.
  • Siler played football in high school, and was named to the All-City/County teams 3 seasons; also won state track and field championship in the 100 and 220 yard dashes
  • Coach Siler owned and ran Peneto Swimming Pool, and used his players as lifeguards and to upkeep the pool area in the summers to make sure they stayed in shape
  • Coach Siler added bowling lanes to the community and hosted leagues for men and women; he did this blind until his death in 1972
